History
Plastican began operations in 1969 and incorporated in 1970. The initial product was a four-gallon container used by the food industry. Not only did Plastican meet the challenge of fulfilling this industry's requisites, but also the container became the industry standard for particular products.
In the early 1970's Plastican began manufacturing heavy-duty industrial containers. These containers range in size from one-gallon to six and a half gallons. They are used to transport a variety of products for industries including paints, food, construction supplies, janitorial supplies, lubricants, specialty chemicals, pool products, pet products, and retail applications. Today Plastican's Pail Division customers include honored and respected names of many Fortune 500 companies.
As the demand for secure, cost-effective containers grew, Plastican expanded to meet that demand. The plant in Dallas, Texas was built in 1978. It has been expanded twice to its current size of over 110,000 square feet. The Macon, Georgia facility began operations in 1986 to service Plastican's customers in the Southeast. This facility has also undergone two expansions to its current size of 120,000 square feet. In 1997 Plastican opened its fourth manufacturing plant, a 100,000 square foot facility in Phoenix, Arizona. All of Plastican's manufacturing facilities are served by rail sidings, providing distinct advantages in the areas of resin cost and inventory control. All manufacturing plants operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Plastican continues to grow selling its products throughout the United States, Canada, and elsewhere around the globe. Each plant assures efficient and effective response to customer needs by having its own regional sales force and sales manager, customer service team, production team, and quality department.
Plastican focuses on technology. A continuing program of research and development enables the company to engineer machinery and tooling capable of producing world class quality at competitive costs.
Plastican has provided the container industry with a long list of innovations. Among these are UN specification packages, lightweight containers, child resistant covers, tamper evident closures for large containers, and childproof closures for swimming pool chemicals. Most recently, the company has designed a new pool chemical package, straight wall paint can, innovative food and retail packages, plus specialized closures for consumer retail and pet product applications.
The incredible success of Plastican can be attributed to an innovative team of experts and the commitment to Quality, Service, Innovation, and Customer Satisfaction. Plastican continues to be well poised to fulfill the needs of its customers while maintaining its leadership role in the industry.
